Poverty Simulations-

Since January of 2017, the Sweet Home Teacher Center has teamed up with the Far West Teacher Center Network to provide training to our staff.  It is no easy task to secure training sessions during Staff Development Days in our WNY region.  However, so far, the entire High School and Middle School staff has participated in a poverty simulation. 

 

Each session can train approximately 100 participants and is done in a school gym.  It is a valuable experience designed to springboard a discussion and more in depth training around the impact of poverty on our students.

What's Next:

The Teacher Center is working toward creating on-line professional development classes.  There is little question that the busiest hours of the day are 3-6:00 pm - making attending a PD class a challenging priority.  So, we need to find time that is more suitable for professional development and deliver it in a way that is meaningful for your own growth as a teacher.
